Bruce had only been to the Albanian capital of Tirana a handful of times. He had a spectacular view of the city from the vantage point on his apartment balcony.

He mused over the incongruity looking at a crane above a dilapidated high rise, set against the far backdrop of a dusky mountain range.

As his eyes observed the nuances of the city, he began to consolidate his thoughts for a plan of attack.

Jaime had supplied him with a digital intelligence package and he had studied it on the bus journey from Berat to Tirana.

Bruce knew it was not prudent for him to be ‘on the ground’ but with both Connor and Ciara in the UK, he had to put the groundwork in himself.

Not that he did not welcome it. The bureaucracy of navigating the UK security services landscape as an official member had more complications than when he solely ran The Chameleon Project.

That said, The Project now lay mostly dormant in comparison to its ‘War on Terrorism’ heyday. Though its remit was to help combat organized crime that the judicial system could not reach, that mission had inevitably been expanded post 9/11 and 7/7.

He still had agents he could call upon if needed, but they were mostly in the employ of highly lucrative private security contracts which would look suspicious if dropped on a whim.

He knew he was lucky in that his two preferred agents could move freely—mostly. This was the first time Connor could not travel. Bruce knew to allow Connor access to Jaime to win an organized crime war would set a dangerous precedent.

However, the former marine had never asked for help in dealing with matters regarding his family’s operations, and Bruce liked and respected that. And all he had asked for on this occasion was to be given time so he could sort it out himself.

Bruce checked his watch. His appointment with a local contact was not due for another few hours, so he decided to take a second tour of the city.
